About

Thomas Heubl

Thomas Hübl is a visionary teacher, innovator, and founder of the Academy of Inner Science, which promotes the study of the principles of mysticism and human inner development. Originally a student of medicine and the physical sciences, Thomas took a radical departure into the exploration of mysticism, including a four-year deep meditation retreat. For the past 15 years Thomas has dedicated himself to the systematic exploration of mysticism, gaining insights into how mystical knowledge can help fill in the gaps in science. These explorations form the foundation of his pioneering Academy of Inner Science, a unique institution founded in 2008 that utilizes a distinctive approach to exploring consciousness, evolution, and the junctures between mysticism and science.

Having worked with tens of thousands of people worldwide in his workshops, retreats, and multi-year study programs, Thomas’s methods include meditative practices, the development of somatic and subtle awareness, and conscious cultural engagement for societal healing. A charismatic and compassionate teacher, Thomas draws students from wide-ranging backgrounds including the physical sciences, social sciences, medicine, law, anthropology, and art, as well as those with backgrounds in mysticism and self-development.

The Academy of Inner Science Graduate Program currently collaborates with five universities that offer Ph.D. programs in areas of study that connect the inner sciences to the outer sciences.  These universities leverage Thomas’s own courses in his Timeless Wisdom Training and Pocket Project series as required coursework for students completing their doctoral degree in fields relating to the study of consciousness.

An activist for the cause of global healing, Thomas created the Celebrate Life Festival, which has taken place annually since 2004 and brings together more than 1,500 people from around the world for a profound experiential immersion in human and cultural development and transformation, cultivating our relationship to the sacred in daily life.

As founder of the Pocket Project (begun in 2016), Thomas helps foster the deep healing of past planetary traumas and the alleviation of suffering in the world’s current conflict zones through powerful, large-scale group processes.  Using the latest scientific and psychological research alongside timeless wisdom teachings, participants in the Pocket Project examine specific manifestations of trauma in different regions of the world, aiming to help heal them. The Pocket Project also brings together global trauma experts for conferences and trains groups of individuals worldwide to enhance their effectiveness and sustainability in conflict and trauma situations.

Thomas has also collaborated with luminaries in related fields, including philosopher Ken Wilber, three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee Scilla Elworthy, psychosomatic medicine specialist Edda Gottschaldt, alternative medicine practitioner Stephan Hausner, systemic constellations therapist Tiiu Boltzmann, law professor Stephan Breidenbach, and top mediator William Ury.
